We’re excited to roll out the most recent update to Meld Studio today! This release is short, sweet, and packed with quality-of-life improvements designed to streamline your workflow and give you more flexibility in how you record and stream. Here’s everything that’s new that you can find in today's release:

More Consistent Audio Track Sorting

Ever find yourself sifting through your audio tracks to find the right one? We’ve overhauled our sorting logic so your tracks stay in a more coherent order every time you open up your Studio. Whether you’ve got dozens of mic inputs, game audio, or sound alerts, you’ll be able to see them arranged exactly how you expect. There's no more guesswork and no more audio track mess.

💡
Pro tip: Rename your most-used tracks (like “Microphone” or “Game Audio”) and they’ll be easier for you to access.

Store Your Window State

Ever reopen Meld Studio only to find it opens in a place other than you wanted it? Now, Meld remembers exactly where you left off. Resize your Studio and set it up how you like. It will remember the correct size and position next time you go to launch the application. No more feeling frustrated because your layout changed back to default after you had it set perfectly for your needs.

Audio Track Sorting, B-Frame Tweaks & More in v0.9.1.6

Hardware Encoder B-Frame Toggle

If you’re using a hardware encoder you now have the power to disable B-frames. This gives you finer control over latency, encoding smoothness, and compatibility with certain streaming platforms. Basically, disabling B-frames will make your stream run faster and smoother on picky platforms while avoiding playback glitches.

Pro tip: Throw a quick test stream to a private channel after changing this setting to dial in the perfect balance of quality and responsiveness.

Are you dreaming of becoming the next big name on Twitch? Whether you're inspired by Kai Cenat’s rocketing rise or you just discovered the hype around Kai Cenat’s Streamer University, you're in the right place. This guide breaks down everything you need to know to get started with your streaming journey. From choosing the right gear to hitting "Go Live" with full confidence.

Welcome to Streamer University! Class is officially in session. ✏️

What Is Streamer University?

If you’ve been on Twitch or TikTok lately, chances are you’ve heard of Kai Cenat’s Streamer University. While it started as a parody during one of Kai’s iconic streams, it sparked real conversations around what it takes to become a successful streamer in today’s competitive content landscape.

Streamer University isn’t just an upcoming institution, but a mindset of ongoing education in the art of content creation, community building, and streaming strategy. Think of this guide as your crash course syllabus.

Step 1: Choose Your Platform (Spoiler: It's Probably Twitch)

Most aspiring creators start on Twitch, the world’s leading livestreaming platform for gaming and IRL content. Twitch gives you access to an audience, built-in features for discovery, and opportunities to start earning through its Affiliate and Partner programs.

While Twitch isn’t the only platform out there, it’s still the top choice for gaming and IRL streams thanks to its massive audience and streaming-first features. That said, don’t rely solely on one platform. Many creators also go live on YouTube, Kick, or TikTok Live. Take time to research where your content fits best and where your audience spends their time.

Step 2: Get the Right Gear

You don’t need Hollywood style production in order to start streaming, but there are a few essentials that will help you get started:

A decent mic

When it comes to streaming, audio quality matters more than video. Viewers can overlook a grainy webcam, but if your mic is crackling, full of background noise, or humming nonstop, they’re likely to tune out fast. Clean, clear sound keeps people listening. If your audio needs work, it’s worth the fix.

A webcam

If you plan to show your face on stream then a standard 1080p webcam will get the job done. Not every creator goes on camera though, so your setup depends entirely on your content style. VTubers, for example, often use webcams to power their rigs and track facial movements. On the other hand, PNGtubers skip the camera altogether and use static images that react to their voice instead. It's all about finding what fits your vibe.

Streaming software

If you guessed that we were going to recommend Meld Studio for your streaming software, you would be right! (It is our blog after all! 😏)

Choosing the right streaming software can make or break your content, and Meld Studio stands out as one of the most intuitive options on the market. Designed with creators in mind by actual creators, Meld Studio offers pro-level features without the steep learning curve or multiple plugins. We make it easy to manage your scenes, audio and multi-platform outputs all in one place.

With built-in support for vertical and horizontal canvases, high-quality screen recording, and seamless multi-streaming capabilities, Meld gives you everything you need to go live with confidence. Whether you're just starting out or leveling up your production, Meld Studio simplifies your workflow so you can focus on what matters most: content creation!

Lighting

Lighting can take your setup from flat and forgettable to more polished and professional. Even small changes such as tweaking the angle of the lighting can add depth and frame your face in a whole new, dare I say it, light.

If you're looking for lighting on a budget then consider investing in a basic ring light, as it can go a long way. You can also try bouncing your light off of a wall for a softer, more even lighting setup. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how much of a difference this can make!

Step 3: Design Your Stream Layout

Your layout for streaming is your very own digital stage and should reflect your style and personality. Alerts should be easy-to-read, overlays pleasing to the eye and separate scenes for different moments in stream, such as "Starting Soon", "BRB", or a close-up of your face when something dramatic happens.

Setting up your layouts in Meld Studio feels less like a chore and more like a creative flow. Using the drag-and-drop editor makes customizing scenes easy, and with just a few clicks, you can copy and paste your design across both horizontal and vertical canvases. This is perfect if you're wanting to stream to multiple platforms without doubling your workload. Want to stream in horizontal but clip your top moments in vertical so it's already formatted for social media posting? We've got you covered.

Step 4: Set Up Your Twitch Channel

Before you hit "Go Live" on Twitch, take a moment to make your channel look polished and professional.

Add a Profile Pic & Bio

Choose a profile picture that truly represents your branding. If you'll be on camera, a well-lit, professional-looking photo of yourself is a great choice. Don't forget that you are the face of your channel! If you're a VTuber or PNGtuber, consider using a model as your profile image to keep things consistent. You can also opt for a logo or custom mascot if that better fits your vibe. Whatever you choose, make sure it's clear, eye-catching, and true to your identity.

Your Twitch bio is a quick snapshot of who you are and what your stream is all about, so make it count! Keep it short, friendly, and informative. Let viewers know what kind of content you create, when you usually go live, and maybe throw in a fun fact or two to show off your personality. If you're part of any communities, charity campaigns, or stream teams, this is a great way to mention it.

Customize Your Offline Screen and Twitch Panels

When you're not live your channel should still be making an impression for anyone who stops by to take a look. Customize your offline screen with a branded image that includes information like your socials or your streaming schedule, that way visitors will know when to catch you live.

Twitch panels are another great way to share more information about yourself and your channel. Add sections for your bio, any tipping links, your community rules, frequently asked questions, and anything else your community might find helpful. A well-designed channel shows you care about your stream and helps viewers feel at home.

It's been said over and over again, if you want to grow you have to diversify your content and your reach. Make it easy for viewers to stay connected by linking your social media accounts directly on your Twitch channel. Whether it's Twitter (X), Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok, adding your socials will help grow your community beyond just your livestreams while keeping everyone in the loop when you're not live. It's a small step that can have a big impact while building your brand.

Step 5: Press Go Live (But Make It Count)

Going live isn’t just about clicking a button. Be sure to plan out your content by asking yourself the following questions:

  • Will you be playing a trending game?
  • Are you doing a Q&A or community night?
  • Do you have milestones or incentives for your viewers?

Even Kai Cenat’s wildest streams are planned to some degree. Scheduling content, hyping up the audience, and dropping surprises are part of what makes streams so watchable.

Bonus: Build Your Community Like Kai

The reason Kai Cenat broke Twitch records isn’t just because of his content, it’s also his community. Here’s how you can start building yours:

  • Be consistent with your schedule
  • Talk to your viewers like you would your friends
  • Use social media (especially TikTok and X/Twitter) to promote your streams
  • Collaborate with other streamers

Final Thoughts

Whether you're following in Kai Cenat's footsteps or blazing your own trail, getting started with livestreaming can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Use this guide as your foundation, stay curious, and remember: the only way to grow is to hit that “Go Live” button and keep showing up.

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Want to reach both your Twitch and TikTok audiences without making any compromises to the quality of your streams? With Meld Studio’s new multi-canvas feature, you can stream horizontal to Twitch and vertical to TikTok or YouTube Shorts at the exact same time. No subpar streaming software. Just a clean, native way to go live everywhere.

What is Multi-Canvas Output?

Multi-canvas output in Meld Studio lets you create and output multiple scene layouts simultaneously. That means you can have:

  • A 16:9 horizontal canvas (perfect for Twitch, Kick, or YouTube), and
  • A 9:16 vertical canvas (ideal for TikTok Live, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Live),

They can run side-by-side and output during the same streaming session! This is a game-changer for creators who want to take advantage of reaching multiple platforms in both horizontal and vertical without doubling the workload.

Why Stream in Both Formats?

You may be asking why you should be streaming in two different formats and the answer is fairly simple: different platforms have different vibes and users have different preferences based on the platforms. If you're streaming in horizontal to a platform that caters to vertical layouts then your stream may not look as appealing to the users of the platform.

Platforms like Twitch and Kick are great for horizontal streaming, while TikTok and YouTube Shorts thrive on vertical, mobile-first content. By streaming to both, you're meeting your audience where they already are without forcing them to switch platforms.

Meld Studio makes this seamless and easy!

How to Set Up Multi-Canvas Streaming in Meld Studio

Here’s your step-by-step guide:

Setting up your Canvasses

Whether you are a new user opening Meld Studio for the first time or a frequent user, with the new update you will be greeted with a pop-up menu that will allow you to choose between Main Canvas (horizontal) or Multi Canvas. Want to add multi canvas but you already closed the pop-up menu? Simply go to File > Preferences > General and you will have the option to toggle between Main Canvas and Multi Canvas.

You can click between the two canvasses in order to make easy adjustments as well as copy and pasting layers.

Connect Your Platforms

Meld Studio makes it easier for you to go live on the platform your audience is on. You can log directly into Twitch and YouTube right from Meld Studio—no extra setup is required. Want to stream to a different platform? As long as you have an RTMP URL and stream key, you’re good to go.

Once your platforms are connected, you can assign each canvas to a specific output. That means you can send one layout to Twitch, a totally different one to YouTube, and another to a custom RTMP destination all at the same time. It’s streaming, your way.

Go Live in Vertical and Horizontal

Now that you have the outputs set up for all of your live streaming platforms, you are ready to hit that "Go Live" button! You'll be live on both Twitch and TikTok at the same time, optimized for each platform's layout all in one easy setup.

If you do not have a stream key for TikTok you can also utilize Meld Studio's virtual camera with vertical canvas and add that directly into TikTok Studio.

Tips for a Smooth Multi-Platform Stream

Before you get started with multi canvas streaming we have a couple of tips to help get you started:

Design Smart

You don't want to just crop your horizontal feed for vertical. Doing so can make your vertical stream look less professional. Customize each canvas for what will work for its platform–bigger text, centered camera, and a mobile-friendly layout are going to look better to viewers than if you just copy and paste your horizontal layout.

When you're creating your vertical canvas consider what information is important for the viewer to see. If you are playing a game like Fortnite your viewers may want to see your health and shield bars, what equipment you have in your inventory, and how much time is left before the storm rolls in.

Engage on Their Terms

Your Twitch viewers might be tuning in to watch your gameplay, but TikTok viewers could be there more for the personality and vibes. Do your best to make an effort to connect with each audience in ways that resonate–speak directly to them when it feels natural and tailor your energy and attention to match the platform.

Check Your Bitrate

Meld Studio now allows you to fine-tune your bitrate settings for each output individually. Need to lower the bitrate for TikTok while keeping your Twitch stream crystal clear so you can give your viewers the best viewing experience? No problem. With flexible bitrate support and new encoder settings, you can optimize your stream quality for every platform–no compromises needed.

Select the Right Canvas

Multi-canvas support brings another powerful feature to Meld Studio: the ability to choose which canvas style to use for recording and clipping your content. Just head to Preferences > General, and you'll find options to customize both Recording and Clipping (as shown in the image above). From there, you can decide whether you want to use the main canvas or the vertical canvas giving you even more control over how your content is captured.

With Meld Studio's multi-canvas output rolling out be sure to give it a spin! Whether you're streaming live to your viewers on multiple platforms or recording a video, this update is your ticket to do more easily while Meld Studio handles the complexity.

Meld Studio's latest update is absolutely stacked with new features and some quality-of-life fixes! From vertical streaming to a whole new level of customization, we’ve packed this release with enough to supercharge your workflow and make your streams smoother, sharper, and easier than ever.

Let’s break it down. 👇

🖼️ Multi-Canvas Output (YES, FINALLY!)

You asked, we built it. You can now stream in horizontal and vertical at the same time! Perfect for streaming to TikTok or YouTube Shorts for an extra boost of discoverability.

If you find yourself clicking out of the dialog box without selecting multi-canvas, no worries! You can simply go to File > Preferences to activate the multi-canvas setup.

With multi-canvas comes a lot of other updated features such as:

Vertical Virtual Camera

Vertical virtual camera is now available for our Windows users. Create your vertical scenes and send them straight to TikTok Studio, Discord, or anywhere else you may want to share. Click on the Virtual Camera text in the Outputs section found on the right side of Meld Studio and it will open up your Virtual Camera settings. Here you can select with the dropdown box between Horizontal and Vertical canvas!

Virtual Camera for MacOS is not currently available but will release in a future update.

Vertical virtual camera makes sending your scenes to TikTok Studio easier than ever! This is a great way to go live on TikTok if you don't have a streaming key available.

Vertical Clipping + Clip Duration Control

Say goodbye to trying to edit horizontal to vertical! Clip those viral moments in vertical so you spend less time editing clips taken by your community from your streams with lower, blurry quality. The vertical clipping feature will give you that crisp, picture-perfect content that you deserve.

Multi-Canvas Comes to Meld Studio! v.0.9.0.0 🎉

We have also added the ability to customize how long your clips are with our new clip time presets! Go to File > Presets and you will see a new section under General called Clipping. This new section allows you to edit your clipping output even further than before! Select the Edit button to select between horizontal and vertical output, the clip length (increments of 10, 30, 60, 90, and 120 seconds), and you can now select a destination to save your clips separate from your recordings.

Vertical Recording

Switch between recording your horizontal or your vertical output in the General settings found under the Preferences menu. This menu makes it easy to go between either output depending on what type of content you're wanting to record. Simply edit your Recording Output to choose a canvas type and where you would like to save your recordings. (Did you notice you can save your recordings and clips in different save files now? How cool is that?! 🤯) Capture high-quality vertical footage for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikToks.

Multi-Canvas Comes to Meld Studio! v.0.9.0.0 🎉

Multi-Canvas Screenshots

Clipping and recording aren't the only ones that got an update in this release. Now you can select which canvas you would like to be the focus of your screenshots. This is great for snapping clean thumbnails or promo photos from both canvases at once. Create those TikTok covers like a pro with less effort!

📈 Encoder View

With Meld Studio’s new Encoder View, you get complete visibility into where your audio and video sources are going so there are no surprises mid-stream. Just head to View > Open Encoder View to see exactly how each canvas is being encoded and which outputs (streams, recordings, clips) are active.

This clear, visual overview helps you quickly verify that everything is set up just right. Whether you're streaming to multiple platforms or recording vertical content for TikTok, Encoder View ensures your sources are going exactly where they need to go. Less time troubleshooting, more time creating.

✂️ Copy and Paste Effects + Full Undo System

No more tedious reconfiguring of your effects! Meld Studio now lets you copy and paste effects between layers and scenes with more ease than ever before. Whether you're copying one effect or a whole stack, you can quickly duplicate your setup by copying all of the effect settings and pasting them onto another layer.

0:00
/0:13

Made a mistake when setting up your effects? Just hit CTRL + Z to undo it in a snap. That's right, you can now undo and redo setting up different effects! It's all part of making your setup process faster, smoother, and way less frustrating.

🧰 Floating Toolbar for Scene Objects

Say hello to a faster workflow and smoother edits. Every layer in your scene now comes equipped with a floating toolbar. What started as a feature exclusive to the video device layers has now been expanded across the board, giving you consistent, quick access to the tools you need most.

0:00
/0:07

The floating toolbar allows you to make quick adjustments without digging around, helping you stay focused and in control as you build out your scenes.

🔧 Enhancements

With this update, Meld Studio also included a few enhancements to help improve your workflow even more.

Modify Audio Track Settings

Whether the source is active or not, you can now modify your audio track settings without having to change which scene is active.

0:00

Video Device Settings Adjustment

We no longer dim the background when opening up the Video Device settings dialog. This results in a cleaner UI while being more visually appealing.

🛠️ Fixes & Improvements

Check out the fixes and improvements made with this patch:

Text Fields

We've ironed out a small but frustrating quirk: Text fields now behave the way you'd expect them to. You can click away mid-edit and your input will still register, so there's no need to go back and retype everything. It's a small fix, but one that makes a big difference when you're trying to build out your scenes.

Performance, Memory, and Stability Optimizations

Behind the scenes, we've rolled out some broad optimizations to improve performance, memory usage, and overall stability. Whether you're running a minimalist layout or juggling a complex multi-canvas setup (377 browser sources, anyone??), everything should feel faster, lighter, and more reliable. These upgrades are all about making sure Meld Studio keeps up with so you can keep the creativity flowing.

🏁 That’s a Wrap!

This update is all about empowering creators, especially those of you who stream to multiple platforms or create content in both horizontal and vertical formats. Whether you're live on Twitch, posting to TikTok, or doing both at once, Meld Studio has your back.

Update now, and let us know what you think. And as always—happy streaming! 💜

<![CDATA[OBS Studio vs. Streamlabs vs. Meld Studio: Which Streaming Software in 2025?]]>https://meldstudio.co/blog/obs-studio-vs-streamlabs-vs-meld-studio-which-streaming-software-in-2025/67bcd3d6de8b0e7aaff4a975Tue, 01 Apr 2025 01:41:40 GMT

In the ever-evolving world of live streaming, choosing the right streaming software can make or break a content creator's experience. As technology advances, the competition among platforms has only grown fiercer. In 2025, three major players are dominating the creator scene: OBS Studio, Streamlabs, and the rising star, Meld Studio. But which one truly reigns supreme? Let’s break down the pros, cons, and key features of each to help you decide.

What to Look for in Your Streaming Software

Choosing the right streaming software can be what makes or breaks your content creating experience. Whether you're new to streaming or you've been in the game for a while, here are some key factors to consider when decided what software will best suit your needs:

1. Ease of Use & Setup

Not all streaming software is created the same. Some software is more beginner-friendly while others may require more complex configurations, especially when it comes to customization. If you're new to streaming or just want to go live without spending hours tweaking settings, look for software with an intuitive interface and guided setup.

2. Performance & Resource Usage

Streaming can be demanding on your PC, especially if you're gaming, using a chat bot, and any other third-party applications you may have to have open at the same time. Good streaming software should be optimized to minimize CPU and GPU usage while maintaining high-quality output. Poor performance can lead to dropping frames, lag, and an overall bad viewing experience for your audience. You also want to ensure you have the ability to stream in different bitrates depending on the platform you're streaming to.

3. Customization & Overlays

Creating a personalized brand is important, and your streaming software should give you the flexibility to customize overlays, alerts and scenes. For easy customization if you're not savvy in graphic design, look for sites like Nerd or Die that offer overlays to create a professional-looking stream.

4. Multi-Platform Support

It's been said time and time again that you should be diversifying your content on different platforms like Twitch, YouTube, and Kick. Having native multi-streaming support can not only save you time but also effort. Software like Meld Studio, eliminates the need for third-party services by offering built-in multi-streaming capabilities.

5. Plugin & Integration Support

Another thing to consider when looking at streaming software is whether you want to use plugins or integration support. Software like OBS Studio relies heavily on plugins that are created by the community. Whether it's chatbot functionality, widgets, or advanced audio mixing, having access to a strong ecosystem of add-ons can improve your workflow significantly.

6. Audio & Video Quality

Audio and video quality should be high on your priority list. Your audience is more likely to care about the quality of your audio and video over whether or not you're skilled in a game. Keep an eye out for software that supports high-resolution streaming, bitrate control, and advanced audio settings, such as separating audio tracks for game sound, microphone input, and background music.

7. Reliability & Stability

Frequent crashes or unexpected errors can ruin your stream. Stability is key, so look for software that has a reputation for being reliable, with regular updates and strong customer support.

8. Price & Monetization Features

While some streaming software is free, there are others that operate on a subscription model or require paying for premium features. Consider whether the price aligns with your needs and whether or not the software includes monetization tools like built-in tipping, integration for sponsorship opportunities, and premium overlays.

Meld Studio: The Innovative Contender

Meld Studio is redefining live streaming software with a modern, cloud-powered approach. Optimized for both Windows and macOS, Meld Studio offers low-latency audio, real-time visual effects, and built-in multi-streaming. OBS Studio: The Veteran

OBS Studio has long been the gold standard for live streaming software. As an open-source platform, it offers unparalleled customization and flexibility, making it the top choice for content creators who want full control over their production. From advanced scene transitions to fine-tuned audio mixing, OBS empowers users to create professional-quality streams. However, its power comes with a learning curve that might be intimidating for beginners.

Pros:

  • Free and open-source
  • Highly customizable with plugins and scripts that are created by other brands and the community
  • Cross-platform (Windows, macOS, Linux)

Cons:

  • Steeper learning curve for beginners
  • Requires manual setup for advanced features
  • Have to be cautious when updating

OBS Studio has long been the go-to choice for content creators seeking complete control over their live streaming experience. It’s powerful, flexible, and reliable, but it demands time and effort to master.

Streamlabs: Feature-Rich but Resource-Heavy

Streamlabs builds upon the OBS framework, offering an all-in-one solution designed to simplify the streaming process. Its user-friendly interface, built-in widgets, and cloud backup make it especially popular among newer streamers. With integrated alerts, overlays, and chatbots, Streamlabs delivers a streamlined experience. However, its convenience comes at the cost of higher CPU usage, which can be problematic for users with limited system resources.

Pros:

  • User-friendly interface with built-in widgets
  • Cloud-based backup for scenes and settings
  • Integrated alerts, overlays, and chatbot

Cons:

  • Higher CPU usage compared to OBS Studio
  • Some features locked behind Streamlabs Ultra subscription

Streamlabs builds on OBS Studio’s foundation, offering an all-in-one solution for streamers. It’s perfect for newcomers who want convenience but may fall short for those with limited PC power.

OBS Studio vs. Streamlabs vs. Meld Studio: Which Streaming Software in 2025?

Final Verdict: Which Streaming Software Should You Choose?

The best streaming software depends on your needs as a content creator:

  • For Ultimate Plugin Customization: Choose OBS Studio if you love tinkering and want full control.
  • For Ease of Use and Built-In Tools: Go with Streamlabs for an all-in-one experience.
  • For Modern Streaming: Try Meld Studio for lightweight, accessible, and collaborative streaming.

Ultimately, Meld Studio stands out in 2025 for its innovative approach, but the best choice depends on your workflow, PC power, and personal preferences. Whichever you choose, one thing is clear: live streaming has never been more exciting.

Hey there, superstar streamer! 🎥✨ Streaming is all about connecting with your audience, sharing epic moments, and building a community that feels like family. But as much fun as it is, it’s important to remember that the internet isn’t always sunshine and memes. Trolls, doxxers, and other troublemakers can turn your dream stream into a nightmare if you’re not prepared.

Don’t worry—you don’t need to be a cybersecurity expert to keep your stream safe. With a few simple steps, you can protect your content, your community, and yourself. Let’s dive into how you can keep the good vibes rolling while staying one step ahead of the bad guys.

1. Streaming Platform Security

Your streaming platform is your stage, and you wouldn’t want anyone sneaking behind the curtain, right? Here’s how to keep your stream secure and in your control.

Manage Your Stream Key Carefully

Think of your stream key as the golden ticket to your live show. If someone else gets ahold of it, they can hijack your stream faster than you can say, “Technical difficulties!”

  • Keep it Private: Never, ever show your stream key on-screen. Not even for a second. Use tools that hide it by default when you’re configuring settings.
  • Regenerate Regularly: Make it a habit to regenerate your stream key every few months—or sooner if you suspect it’s been compromised.
Protecting Your Live Stream and Community From Online Threats

Use Moderation Tools and Bots

Let’s face it: trolls happen. But you don’t have to let them ruin your vibe. Moderation tools are like your trusty bouncers, keeping the riffraff out.

  • Top Picks: Tools like NightbotStreamlabs Cloudbot, and Moobot can auto-filter inappropriate messages, ban troublemakers, and even prevent spamming links.
  • Empower Your Mods: Choose a few trusted members of your community to be moderators. Give them clear guidelines on how to handle issues, so your chat stays fun and safe for everyone.

Restrict Access to Your Streaming Software

Streaming software is the control center of your operation. Don’t let unauthorized hands mess with it!

  • Only log in on devices you own and trust.
  • Set up MFA (multi-factor authentication) for any platform that supports it.

2. Content and Interaction Safety

Streaming isn’t just about you—it’s about your audience, too. Keeping interactions safe and respectful is key to maintaining a positive community.

Blur Sensitive Information

Accidentally showing private details on stream is a classic “oops” moment we all want to avoid.

  • Use tools to blur or hide sensitive areas of your screen, like desktop notifications or sensitive file paths.
  • If you’re sharing your browser or files, double-check before going live.

Tip: In Meld Studio you can add a blur effect to any layer. If you have a streamdeck you can enable and disable the effects with a click of a button, so you can always be prepared.

Vet Collaborations and Messages

Collabs can be awesome, but they’re not worth risking your safety.

  • Do your homework: Check out anyone you’re planning to stream with. Look for red flags in their past streams or social media.
  • Screen DMs and emails: Be cautious about clicking on random links or downloading attachments from unknown sources.

3. Social Media Security

Social media is an amazing way to connect with your fans, but it’s also where things can get a little dicey. Here’s how to keep your accounts safe while staying social.

Lock Down Personal Accounts

Your personal life is yours to share—or not! Use privacy settings to control who can see your personal social media profiles.

  • Facebook: Limit your posts to “Friends Only” and turn off public search options.
  • Instagram: Set your personal account to private and avoid linking it to your streaming account.

Tip: Always be mindful of photos that reveal personal details.

Monitor for Leaks

Sometimes, old posts or forgotten details can come back to haunt you.

  • Regularly audit your social media to make sure you’re not unintentionally sharing private information.
  • Set up Google Alerts for your streaming alias to see if it’s being mentioned in places you’d rather it not be.

Keep the Good Vibes Rolling

Keeping your stream safe isn’t just about protecting yourself—it’s about creating a positive, welcoming space for your community. By locking down your platforms, managing interactions thoughtfully, and being smart about your social media presence, you can focus on the fun stuff—entertaining, connecting, and building your brand.

So go ahead, hit that “Go Live” button with confidence, knowing you’ve got the tools and know-how to keep your content and community safe. Stay awesome, stay secure, and keep streaming those good vibes! 🚀🎮✨

In today’s digital world, accessibility is not just a feature—it’s a necessity that we need to incorporate into our content more often. Creating content that is accessible provides everyone, regardless of their ability, the opportunity to engage with your content. At Meld Studio, we believe that thoughtful, inclusive content design makes streaming and creating a better place for everyone.

Why Accessibility Matters

Accessibility is important because it ensures that everyone, regardless of ability or disability, can fully participate and engage with the world around them. It's about inclusivity, equal opportunity, and making sure that no one is left out due to barriers that could be removed with thoughtful design.

When it comes to content creation on platforms like Twitch and YouTube, being accessible helps to expand your audience, foster a more inclusive community, and improve the experience overall for everybody. There are easy tools and features you can add to your content, like captions, text-to-speech, colorblind-friendly designs, and clear audio benefit not only those with disabilities–they also benefit people in noisy environments, non-native speakers, or those who prefer alternative ways of engaging with content.

Accessibility is about making spaces welcoming for all. It's not just about being "nice-to-have"–it's essential!

Key Principles of Accessible Content

Accessible content guarantees that users, including those with disabilities, can engage with and understand your content. This means prioritizing clear, concise language, providing alternative text for images, using high-contrast color schemes on overlays, and ensuring proper text structure in social media posts for screen readers. Captions and transcripts make audio and video content more inclusive. By designing your content with accessibility in mind, you create a more inclusive experience that benefits everyone, and helps to expand your audience reach.

1. Use Clear and Simple Language

Writing in a clear, straightforward manner when it comes to social media posts, blogs, and even titles of streams and videos, makes your content more accessible to a wider audience. Avoid jargon, overly complex sentences, and unnecessary technical terms that may confuse readers. We all know that SEO is important when it comes to discoverability with content, so stick to plain language that is SEO-friendly and conveys the message directly and effectively.

Using the direct approach benefits people with cognitive disabilities, non-native speakers, and screen reader users. This makes it easier for them to process and engage with your content.

2. Provide Alternative Text for Images

Images should include descriptive alt text that conveys their purpose. This helps visually impaired users who rely on screen readers to understand visual elements. When writing out alternative text for your social media posts on Twitter/X, Threads and BlueSky, ensure you include the following information:

  • Key Subject & Context - Describe the key elements of the image and their relevance.
  • Important Details - Be sure to mention colors, expressions, actions, or relevant text found within the image.
  • Functionality - If the image is part of navigation be sure to describe what it does. This typically includes buttons or links.
  • Avoid Redundancy - Don't repeat the information that's already in surrounding text.
  • Skip "Image of" or "Picture of" - Screen readers already indicate that it is an image.

3. Ensure Sufficient Color Contrast

Color contrast can play a crucial role when making your content more accessible for individuals who might have low vision or color blindness. Poor contrast between text and background can make it impossible for some viewers to read on-screen elements. This can lead to frustration and exclusion so you want to provide sufficient contrast.

  • Use tools like the WebAIM Contrast Checker to verify your color choices meet WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards.
  • Aim for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. Higher contrast is even better.
  • Avoid using color alone to convey important information—pair it with text labels, patterns, or icons for clarity.
  • Consider viewers with color blindness by using color palettes that distinguish elements effectively. Websites like Color Oracle can help simulate different types of color blindness.

By prioritizing contrast, you improve the readability of stream overlays, captions, and on-screen elements, ensuring no one is excluded due to poor visibility. A well-balanced design isn’t just about accessibility—it also enhances the overall viewing experience by improving clarity and readability for all users.

4. Make Multimedia Accessible

Making multimedia accessible ensures that folks with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities, can fully engage with your content. This is where you can take steps to make your livestreams, long and short-form video content accessible for all.

Captions

Providing captions for spoken dialogue and important sounds is helpful for the deaf and hard of hearing community. There are different ways you can include captioning during livestreams, such as using a captioner extension on Twitch or a third-party captioning feature like Pixelchat.tv.

When editing your video content most editing software has some capability when it comes to captions. Whether you have to create them manually like in the free version of Davinci Resolve, or you use generative captioning with software like Capcut, you are going to want to ensure that the font, color, and background are all easy to read.

How to Make Content Accessibility-Friendly: A Guide for Inclusive Design
Subtitle variations in the game It Takes Two. The left frame shows what the text looks like italicized and the right frame shows it without italics.

In-Game Subtitles

If your content relies on you playing video games then make sure you check the settings for subtitles. Be sure to enable subtitles so that your audience not only can understand what you are saying but so they can also comprehend what is happening in the game.

How to Make Content Accessibility-Friendly: A Guide for Inclusive Design

High Contrast Overlays

Use readable fonts and high-contrast colors for text overlays to aid viewers with low vision. This also helps those who are reading in bright or dim lighting conditions. Avoid placing light text on light backgrounds or dark text on dark backgrounds, as this can make reading difficult. If your captions don't have a built-in background, choosing a strong contrast between text and the underlying image or video will improve visibility. Additionally, consider adding a subtle background or shadow behind text overlays to further enhance readability without compromising your design.

Give Content Warnings

Providing content warnings is essential for creating a safe and inclusive experience for your audience. If your stream includes loud noises, flashing lights, or sensitive themes, giving viewers a heads-up allows them to prepare or opt out if needed. This is especially important for people with sensory sensitivities, epilepsy, or PTSD, as unexpected triggers can cause discomfort or even physical harm. A simple verbal or written warning before the content begins shows consideration for your audience's well-being and helps make your space more welcoming for everyone. Are you streaming on Twitch? You can pin a message to the top of chat with content warnings or triggers that can occur during the game. If you're uploading a video on YouTube, consider adding warnings in the description if it's not verbally stated.

5. Structure Content for Readability

Use proper headings, bullet points, and short paragraphs to break up text. Screen readers rely on well-structured content to navigate efficiently. Keep this in mind if you're creating blog content and your social media posts. Using line breaks, emojis and concise formatting can make your posts more digestible and engaging for everyone. Keeping readability in mind enhances both accessibility and user experience.

The Path to Inclusive Content

Making your content accessibility-friendly doesn’t require a complete overhaul—small, intentional changes can have a significant impact. By following these best practices, you make your content more inclusive, engaging, and effective.

At Meld Studio, we’re committed to accessibility in design and digital experiences. Have questions or need guidance on making your content more accessible? Let’s start a conversation! Join us in Discord or on our Subreddit to talk more about accessibility.

To get started, ensure you’re running the latest version of Meld Studio. You’ll find the Clip Button conveniently located in the top right of your dashboard for easy access during your streams.

Don't want to tab out of your gameplay to press the button? Go to File > Preferences and set a Hotkey to make clipping easier. Meld Studio also has a plugin for the Elgato Stream Deck for even more convenient clipping. We want to make getting short-form content easier and faster for you.

2. Capture Your Best Moments

While streaming, simply hit the Clip Button whenever something exciting happens. Meld Studio will instantly generate a 90 second short clip from your feed. Whether you're live streaming, recording, or just wanting to create clips without doing either. No need to pause or manually trim footage—just clip and keep streaming!

3. Edit and Share

After you create your 90 second clip it immediately saves it to the same file you have designated for your recordings. Keeping everything in a nice folder ready to be transferred into your preferred editing software. After you edit your clip, share it with your community on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels.

Best Practices for Creating Engaging Short-Form Content

To make the most of your clips, follow these best practices:

1. Hook Viewers in the First 3 Seconds

Attention spans are short, so start with something eye-catching—a big reaction, an unexpected moment, or on-screen text that teases what’s about to happen. Be sure that you're capturing the viewer's attention within the first 3 seconds otherwise they will likely scroll right past.

2. Optimize for Vertical Formats

Most short-form platforms favor vertical videos (9:16 aspect ratio). When clipping, ensure your content is framed correctly, and key elements like your face cam or gameplay action remain visible. A popular editing style for vertical videos is to put your camera at the top and any gameplay or important information directly underneath that. Need inspiration? We've got you covered with this short YouTube tutorial on how to stream in vertical that can also be used for uploading clips.

3. Keep It Concise and Engaging

Short-form videos perform best when they’re between 30-60 seconds long. Trim out any downtime and focus on high-energy moments.

4. Use Captions and On-Screen Text

Many viewers watch short-form videos without sound, so adding captions or highlights can improve engagement and accessibility. Keep in mind the pacing of the captions so they stay on-screen long enough to be read by those who need them.

Editing Software for Captioning

There are different types of editing software out there that can help you edit your short-form content as well as create closed captioning.

  • CapCut - A video editing application that helps users create social media content. CapCut does have a Pro version that offers extra templates, effects and music. They have AI-generated closed captioning that is easily modified for better accessibility.
  • Davinci Resolve - Offering both a free and pro version, Davinci Resolve makes editing a piece of cake. Although the pro version includes more effects, the free version of Davinci Resolve gives a full range of professional editing tools. Captioning must be created manually in the free version but they include a ton of ways to personalize your video captions.
  • Adobe Premier Pro - A professional editing software by Adobe that requires a subscription plan. Adobe Premier Pro has an option to create closed captioning that allows for formatting and picking a style of your choice.

5. Add a Call-to-Action (CTA)

Encourage viewers to follow, like, or check out your full stream. A simple “Watch the full stream on [your platform]!” can help drive traffic back to your content.

6. Post Consistently Across Platforms

Maximize your reach by uploading clips across multiple platforms. Different audiences engage with content differently, so experiment to see what works best. Just like you have a streaming or YouTube posting schedule, create a schedule for your short-form content as well so your community knows when to expect content from you. Other Uses for Clipped Content

Using your clips to create YouTube shorts and TikToks is not the only way to use short-form content that you clip. Check out these other great uses for repurposing your content:

  • Turn Clips into Gifs and Memes - Take content with strong reactions and loop them into a gif or add text and create the next viral meme.
  • Create Highlights - Take your best moments and turn them into a compilation or an end of the month highlight reel to show off to your audience.
  • Create Teasers and post to Discord - Not only can you create gifs but you could create an animated emote that you upload to your Discord server for your community to enjoy over and over again. Social Media teasers can engage your viewership and get them excited about upcoming events.

Hey there, streamer superstar! 🎥✨ Whether you’re lighting up Twitch with epic gameplay, vibing with your community on YouTube, or hosting cozy unboxings, you’re doing something amazing—putting yourself out there for the world to enjoy. But let’s be real: the internet can be a wild place, and keeping your personal info and accounts secure is a full-time job (on top of streaming, of course).

Think of your accounts as the crown jewels of your streaming empire. If someone snatches those, they’ve got the keys to your kingdom. Don’t worry—I’ve got your back. Let’s talk about how to protect your identity and accounts like the cyber-savvy star you are!

Ultimate Cybersecurity Guide for Streamers: Protecting Your Identity and Accounts

1. Account and Credential Security

Okay, so imagine your accounts are like treasure chests, and passwords are the locks. But here’s the deal—your locks need to be way stronger than those flimsy ones you see on TV that pirates can break with one kick. Let’s beef them up!

The Magic of Password Managers

Ever feel like you’ve got too many passwords to keep track of? One for Twitch, one for Discord, one for your email… it’s enough to make anyone’s head spin. That’s where password managers come in—they’re like your trusty magical notebook that remembers all your spells (er, passwords).

  • Top Picks: Check out 1Password or Bitwarden. These tools will not only generate passwords that look like keyboard rage (e.g., q8$X4@v!2XkE) but also store them securely so you never have to remember them.
  • Why They Rock:
    • No more sticky notes with passwords taped to your monitor (yes, we see you 👀).
    • Easy autofill across all your devices.
    • They can even tell you if a password is weak or has been compromised in a data breach.

Think of a password manager as your personal vault, and inside it? Only the strongest, uncrackable locks.

Passkeys: The Future of Secure Logins

Passwords are clunky, and even strong ones can be stolen. Passkeys are a new login technology that replaces passwords with biometric authentication (like Face ID, fingerprints, or a PIN linked to your device).

  • Why Passkeys Are a Game Changer:
    • No passwords to type, forget, or leak.
    • Phishing-proof—attackers can’t steal what doesn’t exist!
    • Faster logins with stronger security.

Big names like Google, Apple, and even password managers like 1Password and Bitwarden now support passkeys. If you see the option to enable them, give it a shot—you’re literally upgrading your security and making your life easier at the same time.

Ultimate Cybersecurity Guide for Streamers: Protecting Your Identity and Accounts

Level-Up with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Passwords are great, but they’re not invincible. That’s why you need MFA—it’s like adding a second lock to your treasure chest. Even if someone figures out your password, they’ll hit a “NOPE” wall without the second factor.

  • What’s MFA? It’s when you need to confirm your identity with something extra, like a code sent to your phone, an app like Google Authenticator (for ios and android), or even a physical key (like a YubiKey—you plug it into your computer, and bam you’re in).
  • Pro Tip: Avoid SMS-based MFA if you can—those text codes can be intercepted by sneaky SIM-swappers. Authenticator apps or hardware keys are way more secure.

Regular Account Audits: Spring Cleaning for Your Digital Life

You know that satisfying feeling of cleaning out your closet? It’s time to do that for your accounts. Take a little time every month (set a calendar reminder!) to:

  • Review your passwords: Are they unique? Strong? Secure?
  • Check login activity: Most platforms let you see if anyone’s been snooping around your account.
  • Update recovery options: Make sure your email and phone number are current so you don’t lose access.

Your Email: The Motherlode of Access

Let’s talk about the most important account you probably own: your email. This is where password resets go, so if someone gets into your email, they can get into everything.

  • Use a separate email for streaming. Don’t link your personal email to your streaming accounts—use something totally new, with a strong password (stored in that password manager, of course).
  • Treat this email like Fort Knox: Add MFA, don’t click on links even if they look like they're from known websites (manually login to the actual website directly to review notifications, alerts, etc), and don’t give it out to anyone who doesn’t absolutely need it.
Ultimate Cybersecurity Guide for Streamers: Protecting Your Identity and Accounts

2. Personal Identity Protection

Ah, your identity. It’s what makes you you! But as a streamer, it’s also something you want to keep under wraps. Let’s make sure you’re like a mysterious superhero—your streamer persona in the spotlight, while your personal life stays safely behind the curtain.

Choose an Alias

This one’s easy: pick a cool name! Whether it’s something catchy like “PixelPaladin” or quirky like “CoffeeCatStreamer,” an alias lets you keep your real name out of the spotlight. Use it everywhere—your stream, social media, and even donation platforms. It’s your new brand!

Create a Streaming Persona

Think of your streaming self as a character. This doesn’t mean you’re faking who you are, but rather that you’re putting boundaries in place. Share the fun parts of your life with your audience—your hobbies, your favorite games—but keep personal details (like your full name, address, or family) off the table.

Use a PO Box

Fan mail is awesome, but your home address is not something to hand out. Services like PO Boxes or virtual mailboxes let you receive packages safely while keeping your actual location private.

3. Simplified Device and Network Security

Let’s be real—device and network security isn’t the most exciting topic, but it’s still important. Think of it as the moat around your castle. Here’s the simplified version:

  • Get a VPN: A VPN hides your IP address so no one can figure out where you live. We recommend Speedify because it also lets you combine multiple connections into a single, ultra-reliable connection.
  • Update, Update, Update: I know, updates are annoying. But they patch up vulnerabilities in your software, so don’t skip them. Think of updates as armor upgrades for your devices.
  • Keep Streaming Devices Separate: If possible, use one computer for streaming and another for personal stuff. That way, even if one gets compromised, the other stays safe.

Your Streaming Fortress Awaits

Congratulations, you’re now on your way to being a cybersecurity wizard! 🧙‍♀️✨ With a password manager in hand, MFA enabled, and your personal identity locked down, you’re building an impenetrable fortress for your streaming empire. Remember: your safety and peace of mind are worth the extra effort.

So, get back to doing what you do best—entertaining, connecting, and creating content that your fans love—while knowing you’ve got the security side covered. Stay safe, streamer friend, and may your streams be free of trolls and tech troubles! 🚀

Hello, cash-flowing content creator! 💸✨ Streaming isn’t just a passion; for many, it’s also a source of income—and let’s be real, who doesn’t love turning something they enjoy into a paycheck? Whether you’re racking up Twitch subs, basking in YouTube Super Chats, or getting tips through third-party tools, managing your finances as a streamer is both exciting and a little scary.

Unfortunately, the internet doesn’t just come with loyal fans and wholesome vibes—it also brings scammers, fraudsters, and chargeback trolls. But don’t worry! With a few smart moves, you can keep your hard-earned cash (and financial info) safe while monetizing like a pro.

Streamer Finances: Securing Your Monetization and Financial Safety

1. Platform-Native Monetization

Let’s start with the big players—Twitch, YouTube, and other streaming platforms that come with built-in monetization options. These are your bread and butter, so let’s make sure they’re locked down tight.

Twitch Subs and Bits

Twitch makes it super easy for fans to support you through subscriptions and Bits, but don’t forget to secure your account!

  • Enable MFA: Add multi-factor authentication to your Twitch account to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Secure Your Payout Settings: Regularly check your payout info to ensure it hasn’t been tampered with.

Tip: While you can't monitor login activity on Twitch, you can force logout all sessions in the Security and Privacy tab in settings. If you're ever concerned someone has access, don't hesitate to force logout all sessions and change your password.

Streamer Finances: Securing Your Monetization and Financial Safety

YouTube Super Chats and Memberships

YouTube fans love showing their appreciation through Super Chats and memberships, but securing your YouTube account is key.

  • MFA is a Must: Use a hardware key or authenticator app for extra protection.
  • Dedicated Payment Methods: Link a business bank account or payment method for payouts to keep your streaming finances separate from personal ones.

2. Third-Party Tools for Donations

Direct donations can be an amazing way to let fans support you, but not all platforms are created equal. Stick to trusted tools to avoid fraud and privacy risks.

Trusted Donation Platforms

  • Streamlabs and Streamelements: These popular platforms are designed for streamers and come with built-in protections against chargebacks and fraud.
  • Ko-fi or Buy Me a Coffee: Great for one-time tips or ongoing support.
  • Hide Your Real Info: Use aliases and avoid linking personal email addresses or payment methods that could expose your identity.

Chargeback Trolls? No Thanks!

Chargebacks can be a real headache, especially if someone donates a big amount and then disputes it.

  • Set Donation Limits: Cap the maximum amount fans can donate to reduce risks.
  • Enable Fraud Protection: Many platforms let you set up alerts or policies to deal with chargebacks before they become a problem.

3. Protecting Your Personal Details on Invoices

Even when using trusted donation platforms, hidden risks can pop up–especially when it comes to invoices and payment receipts. Some platforms, like Paypal, have settings that could accidentally expose your real name, email, and even your home address if not configured properly.

How to Keep Your Personal Info Private on PayPal

PayPal does allow you to hide personal details, but you need to take a few extra steps to ensure your information stays secure:

Upgrade to a Business Account

  • Even if you're an independent creator, upgrading to a PayPal Business Account lets you use a business name instead of your real name on transactions.
  • Navigate to Settings > Upgrade to a Business Account to start the process.

Customize Your Business Information

  • In Settings > Business Information, you can edit what details appear on the invoices.
  • Make sure only your streaming alias, brand name, or business name is visible.

Manage Invoice & Receipt Settings

  • When sending invoices, PayPal allows you to adjust what information is displayed--including hiding your home address.
  • Double-check before sending invoices to ensure no unnecessary personal details are visible.

So if you are using PayPal, but sure to upgrade to a business account and tweak the settings to keep your personal info hidden. For even more privacy, use platforms designed for streamers, such as Throne Gifting, which will not leak your real name or address on purchases. Stay vigilant, and keep your finances as secure as your stream! 💰🔒

4. Gift Cards and Wishlists

Sometimes, fans want to give back in ways beyond direct donations. Gift cards and wishlists are fun, but they can also open the door to doxxing if you’re not careful.

Use Amazon Wishlists Safely

Amazon wishlists are a streamer favorite, but they can reveal more than you think.

  • Mask Your Address: Use Amazon’s option to hide your shipping address so fans can send gifts without knowing where you live.
  • Keep It Professional: Avoid adding personal items (like home decor or anything too revealing about your lifestyle).

Encourage Gift Cards

Gift cards are a win-win: fans get to support you, and you get to use them however you want—without sharing sensitive info. Suggest gift cards to gaming platforms, streaming services, or online retailers.

Streamer Finances: Securing Your Monetization and Financial Safety

5. Fraud and Transparency

The key to financial safety is staying proactive. By keeping an eye on your finances and being transparent with your audience, you can avoid many common pitfalls.

Watch for Fraud

  • Monitor Accounts Regularly: Check your donation and payment platforms weekly for any unauthorized transactions.
  • Set Up Alerts: Enable notifications for suspicious activity on your bank accounts and payment tools.

Be Clear About Official Channels

Scammers sometimes pose as streamers to trick fans. Make sure your audience knows the real ways to support you.

  • Clearly list your official donation links on your stream and social media.
  • Warn fans not to trust random DMs asking for money or favors.

Monetize Like a Pro, Safely

Streaming for a living is an amazing experience, but keeping your finances safe requires a little extra effort. By securing your accounts, sticking to trusted platforms, and being smart about fan interactions, you can protect your income and focus on what you love most: creating awesome content.

So go ahead—celebrate that sub goal, cheer for those Super Chats, and update that wishlist. With these tips in your arsenal, you’re ready to monetize safely and confidently. Stay secure, stay awesome, and keep building that streaming empire! 🚀💰✨
